The human mind is a difficult thing to change. Recent research by Chaldini, Kahneman, Klein, Tetlock and others demonstrate that we have all sorts of wonderful mechanisms in place allowing us to hold onto our worldview, and warp the facts around it.
But if you want to change the world, then you have to change minds.
Placing someone in an immersive simulation has been shown to be effective at changing a person's concept of reality. By asking someone to try to understand how another people thinks, one opens up the possibility for their own mind to become receptive to new ideas. And if properly done, it allows them to fight against the demonstrable facts of the situation, until they are finally lead to reason.
But better still is to allow them to attempt to create a simulation given their current set of assumptions. As they express their beliefs in the simulation, they will be forced to look at their own beliefs directly, and more detachedly.
Our vision is simple: everyone should be empowered to create roleplays that capture and transmit wisdom.
Just as the printing press issued in an era where everyone could write books, we are enabling a system to allow anyone to create simulations. It is the next step in the evolution of how we humans transmit ideas.

This tool began as work at the United States Institute of Peace. Working with excellent people from Aspiration and ThoughtLink and other great organizations, we developed an open source tool that many people have continued to use. Please see the video below for a deeper understanding of the initial vision.
